On the afternoon of September 27th, Lok Neak Oknha Pung Kheav Se, President of the Federation of Khmer Chinese Associations, led a delegation to meet with Prime Minister Hun Manet and presented donations raised recently to support the “Border Area Infrastructure Construction Foundation.” The fundraising campaign lasted two weeks, with 74,153 participants, raising a total of US$311,774.78 and 479,252,895 Cambodian Riel (approximately US$120,000).
Neak Oknha Teng Lay, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Federation of Khmer Chinese Associations, along with several executive vice presidents, directors, and youth representatives, also attended the meeting.
It is worth mentioning that, at the call of the Royal Government, the Federation of Khmer Chinese Associations launched this fundraising campaign at the end of August this year, appealing to the vast number of Cambodian Chinese and overseas Chinese to fully support the infrastructure construction in the border areas. Lok Neak Oknha Pung Kheav Se encouraged various community groups, business associations, clan associations, and overseas Chinese to generously donate and support this important project with concrete actions.
Infrastructure development in border areas not only benefits the lives of local residents but also promotes foreign trade for businesses and individuals operating in Cambodia. In response to the call from the government and the Federation of Khmer Chinese Associations, The Associate Cambodia Chinese Youth Chamber of Commerce actively donated 10,000,000 riel to the Federation on September 7th to contribute to border infrastructure development.
