The total cost of the school’s construction was US$47,310.

Mount LEANG is situated in a remote mountainous area of Chey Sena Village, Takaen Commune, Chhuk District, Kampot Province, approximately 160 kilometers from Phnom Penh. The area is home to 115 households and nearly 100 school-age children. Previously, 80% of these children received no education due to the lack of a nearby school; the few who did attend school had to travel to a primary school in another village 10 kilometers away at the foot of the mountain. Due to the long distance and the rugged, isolated mountain paths, the children could not commute independently and relied on their parents for daily transport.

Upon learning of this situation, the team from Golden Charity and the Associate Cambodia Chinese Youth Chamber of Commerce conducted three site visits. After assessing local conditions, they decided to donate a school to the area. They coordinated with the Chhuk District School Support Committee and the District Education Office to ensure that, upon completion, the school would be officially incorporated into the Ministry of Education system and equipped with infrastructure meeting public school standards.
Over 100 caring individuals and enterprises contributed to the fundraising and construction efforts. The construction of Mount LEANG Primary School was successfully completed over a period of eight months.

At the ceremony, Mr. Hai, President of Associate Cambodia Chinese Youth Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Vic, President of Golden Charity, recounted the journey of the school’s construction. They encouraged the children to study hard, acquire knowledge, and strive to venture beyond the mountain village—reaching the city and the wider world—to eventually contribute to the development of their hometown and society. Due to the long distance and the rugged, difficult mountain terrain, many domestic and international philanthropists and all the volunteers set out shortly after 4:00 a.m. that day. They traveled from Highway 4 onto the unpaved Road 43—a route riddled with potholes and thick with dust—before the convoy turned onto an even rougher, bumpier, and more treacherous track.
